Everyday Uses for Lavender Essential Oil

Clean sheets fresh off the line. A warm bath in the evening after a long day. The gentle remedy that always soothes itchy skin.

Lavender oil is wonderfully versatile and aromatic and can be used in the home to bring restfulness, calm, and joy to any space. Over the years we’ve discovered lots of everyday uses for our oils and we’ve shared our favourites below.

  • Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to bed linen to encourage a restful sleep. Add to a load of laundry or under your pillow.

  • When you’re unwell, a combination of lavender, eucalyptus & peppermint essential oils will help clear the nasal passages. Simply, combine 4 drops of lavender oil, 3 drops of eucalyptus oil & 2 drops of peppermint oil into an oil burner or vaporizer and sit somewhere comfortable close by. Alternatively, mix the above oils with 20ml of carrier oil (e.g. almond) and use for massage. Take care to avoid the eyes.

TIP: Lavender essential oil blends well with most other essential oils, especially citrus and florals.

  • Soothe insect bites by gently rubbing a small drop of lavender oil. This will reduce stinging or itching. Alternatively, place 1-2 drops of lavender oil into a teaspoon of carrier oil of choice and sponge onto the affected area.

  • Rub 1 drop between two fingers and apply gently to the temple area to encourage relaxation and reduce stress.

  • Add 3-5 drops of Lavender essential oil to a bath or shower for a refreshing, relaxing experience. Lavender oil also helps disinfect and deodorise!
